2027 Team Canada Selection Criteria

2027 Team Canada Selection Criteria

The selection criteria will be primarily results-based.

A player’s top 5 scores from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 will be used to rank Canadian players.

A player’s top 5 scores must consist of 3 FIFG 100 events and 2 FIFG 250+ events, all worldwide.

Only individual FIFG event rounds count towards the top 5 scores.

We will use the FIFG points assigned to players per event as reflected in the BlueGolf system. If an event did not conduct a playoff for a top 3 finish, we will honour the player’s original finish and assigned points.

A bonus points system will be used to award points to the top 3 Canadian players at FIFG 250 events and above for international events only (no Canada FIFG events). For an event to be eligible for bonus points in a category, a minimum of 6 Canadian players for men, 4 Canadian players for senior men, 3 Canadian players for senior+ men, and 3 Canadian players for women must have been in attendance.

The bonus points system will then be awarded as follows: 1st = 100 points, 2nd = 75 points, and 3rd = 50 points.

FootGolf Canada will select a Team Captain from the ranked players.

The captain will be allocated captain’s picks. FootGolf Canada will determine the amount of captain’s picks on a per event basis.

A captain’s pick will be used to bring in an experienced player with past international experience, select a player who is peaking at the right time, even if their ranking isn’t the highest, and ensure strong team chemistry and strategic pairings.

The above selection criteria is subject to change.
